How do I find the percentage of children from low-income families that my organization serves?

We ask that you use an official determinant to calculate this percentage. Some examples are the percentage of children who:

  • receive free and reduced lunch
  • receive or are eligible for Medicaid
  • meet HHS, state, or federal poverty guidelines
  • receive or are eligible to receive TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
  • visit or are eligible to visit WIC clinics
  • receive or are eligible to receive low-income housing
  • receive food stamps

If you are unsure about the measure that you are using, please contact the First Book Help Team at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
