Applying for Books
How do I fill out an application for books from a National Book Bank distribution?
How do I fill out an application for books from a National Book Bank distribution?
Before a Book Bank application opens, we make the list of titles available online. Please review this list ahead of time so that you can do some research and choose the books that are most appropriate for the children that you serve. You will also need the number of children you serve in each age range because that number determines how many books for that age range your organization can receive.
On the day the application opens, log in here using the username and password you created when you registered your program. After you login, you will be taken to your personal First Book page and there you will find a link for the First Book National Book Bank. If you are unable to log in, please click the I forgot my password link below the password field.
The application resembles the registration page you initially filled out in that we ask you for information about your organization. However, it differs starting with page 3, where you must select the titles that you want and input the number of children you have in each age range. On that page and the next, we have provided an estimated calculation of the maximum cost you can incur if you have the books shipped to your location. Please note that this is an estimate and not a guarantee that you will receive all those books.
Please make sure that you fill in all of the appropriate fields before you hit submit. Once you do, you cannot review your application without taking it out of its place in line and resubmitting it. As you know, we allocate books on a first come, first serve basis, so please do not go back into your application unless you have to edit something.
It takes some time for a Book Bank distribution to close, and we do not allocate books until a distribution is closed, so please do not send us requests about the status of your application. We will contact you about your application once we complete the allocation process.
